“Will My Ex Come Back”? A Horary Relationship Case Study.

I should caveat it as a speculative case study as I’m not a horary specialist as of this present moment (but soon hope to be one)

For what it’s worth, this chart does not belong to any one person. It’s a chart created purely for me to practice horary questions and inspired by the tons of “Will my Ex come back” tarot and astrology questions on social media platforms.

Since I’m a horary student of an indeterminate level of expertise, I thought I’ll post my ramblings on my blog so there’s a documented record of my mistakes for me to look at and cringe sometime in the future.

Just kidding. What I’m really hoping for is a horary astrologer to stumble on this page by chance and/or synchronicity and correct my interpretation.

I chose not to delve into the bajillion rules of traditional Horary astrology i.e. triplicities and terms or the state of the moon (void of course or via-combusta) as it becomes very complex and serious for a lighthearted blog post.

Without further ado..the querent is represented by a powerless Jupiter placed in one of the worst horary houses of all- the 12th. He’s retrograde and in Aquarius so basically controlled by Saturn.

Saturn is in his own sign (Aquarius) and rules both 12th and 11th.

Immediately, we know that there would be delays and disappointments in their desires and wishes getting fulfilled. The querent essentially feels lost, completely submerged in a bottomless pit and a victim to their fate.

The Ex is represented by Mercury who rules the descendant and is sitting pretty nicely and casually in its own house. There is no aspect at all between Jupiter (Querent) and Mercury (Quesited).

The Ex is 8 houses away from the Querent and is hidden from the latter’s view. The Querent cannot see the Ex (Quesited) but since it’s 8 places away, its causing them turmoil, obsessive thoughts and despair (8th house issues).

The co-significator of the querent is the Moon who rules the 5th (romance/affairs) and is in an applying aspect to the Ex’s significator. So, the Querent is very emotionally invested in their Ex.

What does the Ex feel about this? Well, the Ex (Mercury) is in Libra, and Venus is in the 8th. Something tells me there’s more to this relationship than meets the eye.

Venus could represent the ‘third person’ in the relationship’ as she is placed in the 2nd house from the descendant in the turned chart. Can we say that the Ex is in a relationship with someone else? 100%,

Does the Querent know about this ‘situationship’? Almost certainly yes, given the moon is also in Libra (Venus’s sign) and in an applying aspect to Mercury. So Mercury (the Ex) could have been upfront or transparent about the other ‘third’ person.

What Can the Querent Do?

To be honest, whatever the Q’rent does is going to be ineffective as Mars is in Virgo and rules the 2nd and 9th. Mars in Virgo is particularly insidious as the energy of mars becomes nervous, high strung, relentless thinking and over analysing. It can’t see the forest for the trees and is stuck in an endless loop of ‘what-ifs’.

Overall, the Querent has the unfortunate energy of self sabotage and could very well be their own worst enemy by pining and stressing over someone who’s not meant for them.

Who’s controlling the chart? Venus and Saturn.

In my humble opinion, If Venus decided she/he’s had enough of Mercury and kicks them out, then Mercury will come back to the Querent. Note that there isn’t any aspect between Venus and Mercury too. So, for all I know, this Ex is merrily stringing two people along for a ride since she/he is represented by Mercury- the trickster.

Saturn though, doesn’t play around. The Querent will find out one way another if the Prince (Mercury) is really a prince or is she/he a frog masquerading as the prince, as the Moon(ruling 5th) is applying to Saturn.

Certain lessons in life have to be experienced first hand and no amount of coaching/guiding/advising will help the Querent. This is one of those milestone lessons.
