Asteroids Eros, Psyche And The Golden Ass.

The story of Eros and Psyche.

It began with The Golden Ass.

I’m serious. That’s the anglicized name of Latin works Metamorphoses by Apulelus, a philosopher writer. Its a story of a gentleman called as Lucius whose disastrous experiments with magic accidentally turn him into a donkey. He’s eventually transformed back into his human form by Goddess Isis after going through a series of adventures. Book 4-6 tells the tale of as a soul’s struggle to achieve its desires through the allegory of Eros (Cupid) and Psyche.

My adventure into the myth of Eros and Psyche began when I came across a birth chart with an exact conjunction of Eros, Psyche with the descendant. The journey to discover the implications of this particular conjunction led me down a rabbit hole of Greco-Roman mythology and the power of self narrative.

The mythology describes the trials and tribulations that Psyche (soul) goes through to be united with her ‘one true love’ Eros or Cupid. As with all allegorical works, I suspect ‘one true love‘ is______(Insert your choice of pronoun from: source or god or goddess or higher power or universe)

The mythology differs from astrology.

The asteroids Eros and Psyche are symbolic of uniting with ones soulmate in astrology. It is theorised that when Eros and Psyche conjunct in synastry, the relationship or connection belongs to the soulmate category, given other equally strong aspects. But, are many astrologers attaching much too much importance to these two asteroids? Maaybe?

After plowing through the massive tome of a novel and researching about asteroids in astrology, I’m not convinced the conjunction of Eros and Psyche in synastry indicate a significant connection. It may add to an already popping synastry, but by themselves, Eros and Psyche have more allegorical value than astrological.

If you have a dissenting view or different experience with regards to Eros and Psyche, I would love to hear it in the comments!
