Moon-Rahu Conjunction In A Birth Chart.

In my earlier post, I’ve talked about the power of Rahu in a birth chart.

Rahu: The Ring Of Power

Transit Moon conjuncts Rahu twice a month as the former moves through the zodiac. Rahu placed in the same nakshatra or sign with the Moon can cause tremendous emotional turmoil in the natives life. The house placement will determine or set the stage where this turmoil will play out. As is the nature of Rahu, there is a significant delusional component with regards to the mother or mother figure, or ones emotions and emotional security.

Rahu (North Lunar Node)

As a generalisation, Moon/Rahu conjunction would be slightly more favorable in an earth sign as compared to water, air or fire. The conjunction can be particularly destructive in a fire sign (Aries, Sag, Leo) and if placed in an angular house.

Moon-Rahu in the 1st house or 7th house

Self willed, determined, anxious, fearful and emotionally over wrought. Depending on the nakshatra this conjunction falls into, results can be quite self destructive. For eg- If Rahu-Moon falls in magha nakshatra (Leo sign, naskatra ruler Ketu), this native may have a ‘god complex’ where they feel entitled to time, energy and attention from others. Whereas, this same conjunction in Rohini nakshatra (Taurus sign, exaltation of Moon) may be favorable, unless the Moon is afflicted by placement or aspect. Rahu/Moon in the 1st or the 7th is considered unfavorable for contentment or fulfillment in marriage or long term partnerships.

Moon-Rahu in the 2nd house or 8th house

This placement is likely to influence and connect the emotional security of the native with their financial resources. They may feel more secure if their finances are in order and there’s a steady inflow of money. However, because Rahu amplifies and distorts the energy of the Moon, it can create an insatiable desire for money/wealth. Unless, Moon/Rahu is aspected by Jupiter who will modulate the impact of Rahu, the desire for money can get overwhelming for the native.

Moon-Rahu in the 3rd house or 9th house

Rahu is considered to be less malefic in the 3rd house, however, the conjunction with the Moon could seriously impact mental and emotional well being. It may cause an unsettled feeling of restlessness, and a desire for knowledge that is insatiable. In the 9th too, Moon-Rahu may predispose the native to relentlessly question or challenge the status quo and/or create friction between the native and their teachers or mentors.

Moon-Rahu in the 4th house or 10th house

Like the 1st/7th, Moon-Rahu in the 4th or 10th may affect domestic harmony and professional life. Placed in the 10th, this conjunction may lead to an unstable professional life with lots of ups and downs, however, the native will be very determined to reach the pinnacle of their chosen career. In the 4th, this conjunction may lead to misunderstandings, and disagreements with the mother which sets the tone for family life post marriage.

Moon-Rahu in the 5th house or 11th house

Theoretically, Rahu by itself, is known to cause delays or challenges in progeny/childbirth, when placed in the 5th. However, this is debatable and does not align with my experience. In the 11th, this conjunction seems to have little to no malefic effect. Again, theoretically, this placement is favorable for a political career, fame and fortune.

Moon-Rahu in the 6th house or 12th house

In the 6th or 12th, the Moon-Rahu conjunction may be associated with acts of service. If the native does not subscribe to a service’ mindset or attitude, then the fall out is ‘suffering’. The 6th-12th axis is often called the ‘serve or suffer’ axis. Planets placed in this axis subtly influence the native to serve the significators of the planet/house. For eg- Sun-Rahu in the 12th could indicate being of service to the father or father figures. Unfortunately, this placement is a double edged sword because there is often a sense of being wounded by the planetary significator, yet one is compelled by circumstances to serve. For instance, Sun in 12th or 6th could indicate an absent father, emotionally distant/preoccupied father, yet, the native may have to serve their father in some way. Quite a challenging placement.
