Pluto for the individual
If Jupiter signifies the super conscious, the higher self, the cosmic force; Pluto is the recesses of the earth, spaces with no light. Just as one needs to stay above ground to breath, eat, survive and flourish. From time to time, we also need to hibernate, rest, shed our old tight metaphorical skin so that we can grow into a new one that fits us better.
Those birth charts with natal Pluto on the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th houses or Pluto squaring/opposing their inner planets are very familiar with the strong pull of darkness. Challenging aspects between Moon-Pluto forces us to confront our deepest fears and desires that often express externally as emotional manipulation. Sun-Pluto craves power and compels one to undergo cyclical identity transformations in their pursuit of power. Venus-Pluto brings dangerous obsessions in one-to-one relationships and sometimes an all consuming focus on wealth. Mars- Pluto can be ultra competitive and ruthlessly ambitious. Be aware though, if you have these placements or aspects in your birth chart, you will share these in synastry with your peers as Pluto is a generational planet.
The only way to deal with this shadow energy is to face it and purge it out of your psyche. Combat inner demons and reign over the underworld like Persephone. Pluto confers power and strength, so you’re definitely equipped to successfully navigate the darkness to emerge into the light. Those who have a strongly placed Jupiter will have an easier time of it than those with a debilitated or poorly aspected Jupiter because the great benefic, when powerful in the birth chart, offers a safety net and a sense of unbeatable optimism and faith that one needs while traversing the underworld.
Pluto for the collective
Pluto ingress into Tropical Aquarius 2023-2044
Note that Pluto entered Sidereal Capricorn on the 26th of February 2020. Saturn was already in Sidereal Capricorn by then (January 2020), and was joined by Pluto in February and Jupiter on the 30th of March 2020. Three outer planets changed signs within a month of each other and the rest, as we know, is history.
Since 2020, Pluto in sidereal Capricorn has been challenging the ‘status quo’ and the established ways of living and conducting out business. It has exposed the vulnerabilities of our modern world and brought us down to our knees.
Come March 2023, Pluto makes its first ingress into Tropical Aquarius and will transit this sign intermittently(with ingress into Capricorn in 2023 and into Pisces in 2043) until 2044.
“Real” may get redefined. The rise of ChatGPT, deep fakes and what-not will blur the lines between the real and not-real, leading to questioning and challenging sourcing, accumulating and synthesizing knowledge and information.
We may see the darker side of the cancel culture or as I call it the tyranny of the collective. An extension and extrapolation of ‘tyranny of the majority’ in Democracy, which may also see a rise of cults, tribalism and us vs others.

What does it mean for you?
For your “tropical” ascendant/rising sign:
Pluto in Aquarius affects cardinal and mutable signs to lesser degrees than fixed signs because Pluto is transiting the angles for the latter. Angles (1st, 4th, 7th and 10th) are sensitive areas in the birth chart and the impact of outer planet transits is more visible in the native’s personality.
(Tropical)Fixed Rising signs- Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius
Power to resist and the power to maintain
Outer planets changing signs affects the collective that trickles down to the individual. Pluto seems to impact in multiple ways though- at an individual subconscious level as well as the collective level.
Tropical Aquarius risings/Sidereal Capricorn will face the plutonic heat, with its intensity peaking between March 2023 to 2024 as it transits back and forth between Capricorn and Aquarius.
Second wave of intensity will be felt while crossing your ascendant. Some Aquarius risings might feel like they’re in a death grip or may feel a sense of impending doom. No, its unlikely you’re going to die. It’s just Pluto being extra extra with its intensity. Don’t feed the pluto energy by being combative, jealous, resentful, manipulative. It will just snowball and twist, distort and drag your emotions and mind into the depths of what may seem like hell.
Do the opposite- force yourself to be upbeat, cheerful, sunny; despite feeling the opposite. Trick your mind into thinking its happy for a little while until it becomes a habit. Spiritually bypass for a few years until you get used to the Plutonic energy and there’s no immediate danger of getting sucked into its black hole.
Tropical Leo Ascendants/Sidereal Cancer will also feel the intensity like Aquarius ascendants. However, this intensity will seem like its emerging from external sources rather than internally. For instance, Leo risings may find their interpersonal relations becoming highly intense or they might find they’re attracting very plutonic partners and friends (jealous, possessive, manipulative, destructive). All your long term relationships may come under the scanner, especially your marriage. Some of you may show possessiveness towards your partner, which may be unusual for you. You may be encouraged by circumstances to become less self centered and more humanitarian. Less attention seeking and more detached. You may also feel the urge to free yourself from societal obligations, norms and duties. This yearning for freedom may be expressed in damaging ways. So, watch out for that.
Again, this energy will peak in intensity while Pluto crosses the descendant. After that, it will settle into a new normal.
Tropical Scorpio Ascendants/Sidereal Libra may find this transit almost unbearable. Pluto is the co-ruler of Scorpio, or some might say, the ancient ruler of Scorpio. As Pluto enters their 4th house (tropical) or 5th house(sidereal), they might find home life becoming a living nightmare with power struggles between family members, secrets and lies. A soap opera. They might find themselves in a very intense power struggle with their mother. Or with their colleagues at work. Or with their partners. Being another fixed sign, Scorpio risings dislike change in emotional status quo. They hold on tightly to their emotions, feelings, memories..also grudges, resentments, trauma, hurt, secrets and everything else that’s buried deep in the psyche. You’ll be encouraged to release and let go of your past self. Which also means to let go of anything that’s rotting, stewing, stagnating in your life.
Some of you may have children during this transit. Others of you may find yourselves pitting your will against the will of your social circles. You may express your rebellious side and refuse to submit to (waht you feel) as unreasonable social norms or actions.
Tropical Taurus ascendants/Sidereal Aries. As Pluto transits your 10th house of profession, public, vocation, calling; expect things to change massively in your professional life. You may decide to change jobs, or are compelled to do so by external forces. You may decide to run for enter politics or run for public office. You may feel like your bosses are working against you. You may feel like authority figures are out to get you. If you’ve felt stuck or blocked by Saturn’s transit through your 10th house these past few years, your resentment and bitterness may feel overwhelming. Your financial security may feel threatened, as transit Uranus is navigating your 1st house. Once Uranus transits into your 2nd house in Gemini post 2025, life will be less angst ridden.
